Kristina Hood, Ph.D.

I am a Health Psychology PhD student at Virginia Commonwealth University and joined the PROGRESS lab in 2024. I earned a B.S. in Psychology from Longwood University with minors in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Sociology, and a Master's in Psychology (Community concentration) from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. My research interests focus on reproductive and sexual health, health disparities, and women’s experiences within healthcare systems (e.g., health-related institutional betrayal and medical gaslighting). My current work examines health-related institutional betrayal and impacts of policy changes (e.g., overturn of Roe v. Wade) on women with chronic health conditions; specifically, how these changes affect their health and engagement with healthcare.
